Lent: time to reflect

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Church’s season of Lent:  a time of reflection and preparation as we get ready to celebrate Holy Week and Easter.  At St. Columba’s our Lent sermon series at the 10.00 a.m. service  “Christ’s Cross and ours” helps us to meditate upon the meaning of the cross in our daily lives.  Our preacher on February 26th, the first Sunday in Lent, is Tim Henshaw, manager of the Sheffield Cathedral Archer Project, working with homeless people in the city centre.   During Lent we will be holding quiet services of night prayer at 7.p.m. each Sunday:  half an hour of peace and calm, with plenty of silence, and not too many words. We will share these services with our neighbours from the Beacon Methodist Church at Stephen Hill.  Do join us.
