Worship

We worship together on Sundays (10.30am), alternating between the two church sites, and specific details of the venue each week can be found on the Events page here . The Sunday 10.30 worship service, offers alternately, a Communion Service, a Morning Worship service, a Café style service, and all-age godly play.  Communion is gradually being re-introduced at some services as we come out of Coronavirus restrictions.

Outside traditional Sunday times of worship, we also offer Messy Church, Outdoor Church, Family Fun Friday, Sacred Space and Open Room sessions, details of these can be found under their specific pages.

St Columba’s CofE Church and Stephen Hill Methodist Church are now working as one in shared ministry to serve the local community. Together we have a regular congregation of around 80 and our services offer various styles of Church of England and Methodist worship. We are all learning to appreciate this eclectic approach to worship and the richness of two traditions. Many members of the congregations participate in worship by contributing their musical and other creative talents to services.

There is a fully integrated sound and projection facility in both church premises as well as an organ and electric piano to provide musical support. During the pandemic, new digital ways of being church together have been explored online, and we continue to stream live on Zoom, with recordings emailed out the following day, and uploaded onto our YouTube channel.
